19+6+10: What’s the COO been up to?

We celebrated Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month during October, and then National Radiologic Technology Week at the beginning of November. This is why I chose a medical imaging theme for our November newsletter. The SIMTICS team is proud to have a role in the world of medical imaging education, with our unique simulations that help you learn ultrasound scanning and radiographic positioning. With over 100 simulation modules spanning not just medical imaging but clinical procedures too, we have an online library that appeals to education institutions, healthcare employers and individual learners alike.

As Matt says in his welcome note, these are exciting times for SIMTICS. We’ve been spreading the word about the concept and value of “online cognitive simulation” for a few years now, and my recent 3-month trip around the USA during June to August showed me that educators and trainees are definitely ready to embrace this style of learning. SIMTICS online simulations are an ideal resource for self-study, to incorporate into a blended, hybrid or distance education program, or to integrate into a flipped classroom approach. Our customers tell us that we help to fill the gap between learning the theory and having to put it into practice. If you’re an educator or responsible for academic affairs, call us to discuss your requirements and how SIMTICS can add value to your programs.

On a personal note, I had a wonderful, inspiring and educational time during my latest US trip. It was an honor to meet so many of our customers, partners and potential customers, and to talk to people at six different conferences from Las Vegas to Florida, and from Baltimore to Rhode Island, covering sonography, radiography and education in general. (And interesting to be immersed in so many acronyms: APSCU, ASRT, AEIRS, IFSER, FAPSC, SDMS, SVU. Phew!)

If I met you during this trip, it was an absolute pleasure. If not, then I hope to connect with you next time.

P.S. If you’re wondering about the meaning of 19+6+10 in the title of this article, I visited 19 states & exhibited at 6 conferences over 10 weeks! I took the photo in one of those 19 states – it shows the historic (and sadly crumbling) Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys.
